What could I say? I grow up with "El Santos" and all his acid criticism of our own behavior, our taboos, and old stupid moral values our society have. I agree this is not a movie for special-effects-drama-lovers, is for middle age Mexicans or foreigners well embedded in a very special Mexican culture. Jis & Trino the creators of the comic strip "El Santos", were aware of all the details of this movie, they invited most of the actors who share its voice for the characters and also invited Elena Poniatowska one of the most well known writers in the country and Latinamerica who made a small appear on the film. I wrote this review because I saw a bad review of the movie ended with "This is truly an insult for Trino and "El Santos", obviously he is from Mexico but he doesn't belong to this part of the culture. Please this is a critic not a comedy. My friends and I really enjoyed this movie we laughed all the time and are more than willing to watch it over and over.

I didn't really care for the movie so much, indeed i kind of feel like it was almost trying too hard to achieve the kind of moody tone poetry it really wanted to carve out, but i do feel like this is a movie that other people could and prob will really really love. If you're a fan of the films of Wong Kar-Wai--i would really recommend checking this one out as this covers a lot of similar terrain both dialog wise, atmosphere wise, and character wise, it definitely felt like the work of someone who really looked up to Wong Kar-Wai. I enjoyed that director's work more than enough that i can certainly appreciate the similarities that are present here without really getting wrapped up in this film's sense of poetic ramblings and discourses--again both dialog and visual wise, and i should say there are a handful of sequences here that really hit the mark--such as the one scene where the lead decided that maybe he will get run over by a train after all. In those handful of moments the film really comes to life in a vivid and memorable way--unfortunately they're only moments.The plot is essentially there's this young gloomy man (maybe in his early twenties)who upon breaking up with his much rhapsodized love interest seeks to end his life--be it physically or just emotionally, he essentially stops taking care of himself getting himself kicked out of his residence, and just stops caring about anything and everything--he gets so drunk in the first five minutes of the film that he bites into a glass and needs to receive stitches on his mouth because of this but he doesn't seem to even care all that much so given up on any joy he could possibly get out of life is he. In the hospital he's befriended by a very sunny hairdresser who along with another friend of his (a doorman prone to having sex with prostitutes) become a trio of young guys just hanging around and getting drunk while the lead waxes poetic in voice-over some of which is very effective (the scene of the three of them passing out and lying down drunk outside has the guy saying to the audience that he wishes he could buy them all the drinks they want but since he can't afford it, at least he can afford the cold wind that they can all feel which will remind them all that they're alive??? i am not sure but it both looked and sounded cool) eventually the three guys hook up with this singer of a rock band that plays at the bar where the lead ate that glass--and she and another girl (who ends up being the sister of one of the other two guys) ends up hanging out and after two or three scenes of the lead trying to off himself eventually forms a connection to the singer of the band. This in turn leads to not a whole lot--there was an attempt at blackmailing the other girl's boss at the bank she works at because she had been sexually molested by him, and there are a couple of alternatively amusing and puzzling scenes involving the other characters doing other things....i hope by now you get the idea that this film isn't really about plot anyways as much as it is the brooding atmosphere and rather dystopic mindset of its main character and how it basically informs everything he sees around him--from his friends, to a potential new love, to everything he passes by, everything is just touched by a cloud of sadness and doom. I feel like this film might have been trying to say something about depression and how both beautiful and ugly, natural and unnatural the young man's mind will process sadness--but that may be ascribing a quality to the film that only i was seeing while watching it. All of that said, the film's pacing is lethargic at best, torpid at worst, but again there are these occasionally wonderful scenes scattered throughout that suggest a real touch of poetry and a real future for the director if he could maybe put together a slightly less languorous film next time out--or at least one that has as many moments that work as moments that don't.

Of course this movie is a propaganda, but a very good one. That's how propaganda movies should be made! The movie is not about the message that is shouted in your face, but rather about how it makes you feel - at the right time, for the right reason, with the right character. I liked pretty much everything about this movie - the script, the dialogs, character development, action scenes. I've read some concerns about main girl character who's acting did not seem to be convincing early in the movie, but I think it was done on purpose, as a contrast, to show that behind urban glamour still hides Russian Woman that was praised in the world art and literature. Thus dedication of the movie to the mothers. Bottom line is: at last we see some nice action drama coming from Russia that we would not be ashamed of. Highly recommend.

This must see movie sneaks up on you and challenges the definition of a "genre." Romance? Drama? Horror? Better...all of the above. It's visceral hard hitting nature will sneak up on you on different levels. Christopher Denham plays a layered character with a haunting past that has everything to do with his dealings in the present. Is he the hero or the villain of the piece? Stalker or lonely-heart shlub? That depend on the individual viewer. Each of the female characters builds upon his complex and ever-troubling dealings with the fair sex. This is one of those rare treat movies that asks all the questions with open-ended, yet resolute, answers. It's rare to find a movie like this that allows the audience to discuss and debate the film and what it really means. A great effort from first time director, Nate Taylor, and writer Peter Moore Smith.

It is a 100% family entertainer. Nagarjuna dominated all over the movie, he looks very handsome and very energetic even at the age of 54. The story mainly deals with human relations and emotions. Perfect movie for matured audience. Director dasaradh handled the script very well, music by thamann is awesome. Female lead Nayanatara have done impressive role, she is looking very beautiful. Viswanadh had performed at his standards in a dignified role. MS Narayana and bramhanandam filled the space for comedy. There are many character artists in the movie. The sentiment worked very well, dialogues penned by dasaradh are catchy and meaningful. Overall this is a cool movie to watch is this hot summer. Nag is back with his romantic stylish cool look after a long time. Don't miss it...!!!

I can't even begin to explain my love for this movie. I'm not even sure how to articulate it. Honestly, I didn't want to like this movie - before seeing it, I saw my hometown/homestate fully attached to it, I saw people my age doing what most people only dream of. I wanted to fault them, and I wanted to leave the theater with a list of ways the movie could have been better.However, I couldn't do that. I couldn't come up with one thing I would change, one thing I would like better. This movie is incredibly beautiful, realistic, hard-hitting, and almost tangible. After the movie, you feel like you've met these people, these characters, before. You feel like you've known them for years.The acting is amazing - the chemistry, the body language, the facial expressions, the quick wit (when appropriate), the believable emotional displays. I cannot come up with one negative thing. The picture quality is superb - the angles, the clarity, the focus (or lack), the panning - it's all completely complimentary; showing all the good things about the actors/characters, the locations, and the moods.I was incredibly happy and honoured to attend the premier at the Florida Film Festival - I was even more stoked to attend the Q&A as press/photographer. During the Q&A, I found myself in momentary lapses, forgetting to take pictures - I was captivated by the cast/crew, and the stories/facts behind the movie and the processes.Without spoiling the movie, all I can say is that, in one way or another, we can all relate to at least one of the characters. We've all experienced loss, family/siblings, and the tribulations of the latter. You can't help but feel by the end of the movie - just feel something; whether empathy for the characters, nostalgia for your past, or determination to do something about your current familial situation. This movie takes you through all the emotions, and yet, at the end; you're not upset that it took the scenic route to get you there.This is a great movie (in my list of "movies to see before you die", now), and I truly look forward to more from the cast and crew.

Though initially dismissive of customizable card games and its player base, when the abrasive Cass meets beautiful gamer girl Natalie he enters a tournament for the CCG Romance of the Nine Empires in order to wrangle a date from her. In an alternate reality, the heroic princess Myriad searches for a way to protect the kingdom of Holden from the wars that rage across the world of Countermay. She begins to suspect, however, that her fate is controlled by something altogether outside of her reality. Will Cass get the girl? Will the land of Holden survive the coming war? The fate of the land of Countermay depends on the outcome of Cass's CCG tournament...or is it the other way around?For viewers unfamiliar with the previous movies The Gamers and The Gamers:Dorkness Rising (the original movie was more of stand-alone, extended sketch comedy skit than a full-fledged movie, and featured few of the same characters from its two sequels) , the story should be pretty easy to follow, though a few elements may leave some people scratching their heads, and some of the humor might fall a little flat with those who aren't familiar with the gaming community and its tropes. Also, it should be noted that this is a low budget, Kickstarter-funded production, so the production values might be lower than what most viewers are used to which could be a turn-off.For returning fans, while Dorkness Rising focused on nice guy Lodge and his frustrations with both his dysfunctional role-playing group and a case of writer's block, Hands of Fate shifts its focus to the ultimately good-hearted jerk Cass. There's also a larger focus on the real world plot than there was in the last movie. I think Cass is an entertaining lead protagonist, so these aren't problems so much as things to be aware of.If you're hoping for a continuation of the story-within-a-story that was the focus of Dorkness Rising, you'll be disappointed, as one of the sub-plots of Hands of Fate is the fact that the gaming group can't seem to get together to play. Instead, we get to see into the world of Romance of the Nine Empires, a fictional CCG, and its inhabitants are their own entities rather than the extension of their players in the real world. This is a negative, in my opinion. It's not that the CCG world is any less engaging than the RPG world was, it's just that the fantasy storyline was never the point in the first place--it was the dynamic of seeing the characters switching back and forth between their real and fantasy personas that made the whole thing fun. Unfortunately that's mostly absent here.As far as the acting is concerned, I thought the the main cast was pretty good. Brian Lewis as main character Cass did a great job, and takes a character that was originally designed as kind of an antagonist in Dorkness Rising and turns him into a relatable protagonist. One of my favorite performances is actually Scott C. Brown as Leo--while Leo was new to RPGs, he's actually experienced in CCGs, so his character gets to transform from fumbling newb to wise master, and I thought he was able to pull it off without it seeming like we were looking at a new character with the same face.Some of the less prominent acting can be a little hit or miss around the edges which is to be expected since the cast seems to be fleshed out a bit with amateur actors. What might be a problem to some viewers though is understanding when the acting is bad on purpose, such as when a character in the movie is himself playing a character and is meant to be bad at it. For instance, there's a sequence where a number of people are Live Action Role Playing, a sequence filled with bad deliveries and cheesy speeches--but they're supposed to be that way. I can see how some people might not get it if they're not really understanding what they're looking at.I do have a few nitpicks, mostly it just seems like a little more finesse could have been used. Sometimes Checkov's gun is set on the mantle a little too obviously, or points where I feel an emotional payoff for a storyline seemed a little too calculated. The one major problem I had was with the plot for the Gary character--it starts off amusingly silly but then goes off into a really darkly absurd place that's out of sync with the rest of the movie--while still being treated as just slightly kooky.In all, don't let the low budget or the niche genre nature of the material turn you off to the movie--it's a funny, smart movie about gamers. Sometimes they antagonize each other, sometimes they have different ideas on how things should be played, but at the end of the day they are there because they love gaming.

The pace is tuned for all audience catering to the sober and the "not so sober". "Hyderabadi" tinge is apparent in the movie with its evergreen and everlasting dialogs. The beauty of the movie is only seconded by the natural and refreshing action of the actors. The audio is awesome with its catchy music. It is really great that such a low budget could yield so much fun. Overall, its a light comedy with choicest of dialog from the cultural diversity of the omnipresent "techie".

After having discovered that his wife Elise (Lily Cole) has been unfaithful to him, Octave (Pete Doherty) challenges her lover to a duel and, tragically, is shot in the first few minutes of the movie.The tragedy - both for the audience and movie - is that Octave survives and the hapless Doherty is doomed to mumble his way through a script that would have left Daniel Day Lewis, at his love-struck best, struggling hopelessly. Forced to utter such lines as "Are you loved? Do you want to be loved?", the dejected Doherty looked ready to make a run from the set. The screenplay required that, on a couple of occasions, he arrived and left the scene within minutes and he could barely conceal his relief as he did so. Members of the audience at Cannes followed suit, leaving the theatre, at first one by one and then in small teams.Indeed, Confessions of a Child of the Century would have been an ambitious project for a veteran director leading a cast of seasoned actors; French Romantic literature makes difficult reading, let alone adaptation, and the emotional complexities and purple prose of Alfred de Musset's autobiography are as lost in translation as Doherty's talents are lost in the role. In spite of savage reviews - Screen Daily's writer, noting that 'rarely has decadence seemed so dull' must have canvassed the same ushers at Cannes as I; they wondered why Doherty had been given the role at all, and why the story hadn't been filmed in its native French. Indeed, all is not lost, after all. It's not too late for the movie to be dubbed into French and given English subtitles, it may yet stand a chance. De Musset's sign, a syndrome characterised by involuntary head movements and named after the author, could be used to explain Doherty's strange, palsied gestures, and audiences would be none the wiser to his atrocious acting.Alternatively, the dialogue could be removed completely, and footage used as a video for Celine Dion's excellent "Lettre de George Sand à Alfred de Musset". And then everybody would be happy.
