The plot summary says this is a movie about Ogg the wolf, but the original Hebrew version I saw didn't feel the need to give the wolf a name. The wolf is just the first-person narrator. The story of the wolf's life is not exactly captured in the wild; these are human- friendly wolves playing the roles of wild wolves. But you wouldn't know the difference (at least I wouldn't) except that they are photographed more intimately than would be possible in their completely undomesticated state. The movie is a follow-up to Alpert's LAND OF GENESIS and there obviously wasn't the treasure trove of footage that a similar effort would have required, so here -- instead of one incredible shot after another -- we have the wolves interspersed with a lot of time-motion skies, cute birdies, and other pleasant but (to today's audiences) routine stuff; but the story of the wolves delivers on its promise of engrossing the viewer. It's helped by a fine musical score, and I certainly recommend the movie for adults who have an interest in animals. For children before their teens, maybe the violence by the wolves and against the wolves (who are hunted as pests) could be disturbing.
