Once again, we have an example of new age Indian cinema which purports to be "different". In many ways, it is worse than the old school boy-meets-girl formula films of yore because one didn't walk in with the hope that some new ground may be explored.We as viewers are expected to meet the aimless, destructive, misogynistic and homophobic protagonists and consider them lovable. Not.We are supposed to consider their boorish behavior applaudable. Not.Ranbir Kapoor who put in a fine show in Rocket Singh - Salesman of the Year seems to have decided that he no longer wants to act when hamming away is adequate. Pity! Deepika Padukone is utterly miscast as a woman with her head in books and unaware of her stunner looks.Aditya Roy Kapoor as the resident lush and Kalki Koechlin as the bindaas gal are good but then the movie is not really about them.This is the nth time that Hindi film directors have tried and failed to recapture the Dil Chahhta Hai sort of chemistry between protagonists. I just wish they would stop trying to be cool because they fail miserably.
